Video Quality: Daytime pictures are as fairly sharp and clear, though not as much as the better models, which means you can see most but not all of the details and subtle patterns in the scene. At nighttime, the video is very good: quite viewable, with a fair amount of brightness and clarity.
Data security: This model has excellent security. It has among the best set of protections for your recordings and personal data. It uses strong encryption. The firmware has safeguards against known vulnerabilities. And the firmware updates from Arlo are secure.
Data privacy: Arlo offers a sub-standard level of control and transparency over your data. They are not doing as good a job as many others are with regard to collecting only necessary data, giving you control over its use, and limiting how your data is shared or sold.
Response time: This model sends its alerts to its app within 8.5 seconds on average, which is much slower than most, and may noticeably impede your ability to be responsive to situations.
Smart features: It works with smart-home systems such as Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, IFTTT, and Samsung SmartThings. You'll need to install the Arlo Secure app on your smartphone. Arlo claims this model has recognition algorithms that can detect fire, and custom detections—like a cat jumping on a couch. Arlo may offer additional features that require a subscription and/or a firmware update.
