6 Best Pill Organizers, Tested by Experts

But a pill organizer is only as useful as its ability to hold all your pills, suit your lifestyle, and support different dexterity needs. Different people take different amounts of medication and supplements, and there are major differences among pill organizers. We found popular pill organizers in a variety of styles, materials, prices, and sizes, and to help test them, we recruited four evaluators who have different needs:

• Dario Cupido is a 76-year-old frequent traveler who takes eight medications daily.
• Althea says she takes nine medications and four supplements, and has arthritis/chronic pain in her thumbs, wrists, and elbows.
• Elizabeth takes three medications and six supplements and says she occasionally experiences weakened grip strength limitations and weak hand-eye coordination.
• Lisa Fogarty (that’s me) takes 11 nutritional supplements daily.

We tested the ease of opening and closing their lids, their portability, and how many pills and capsules they can hold. Since pills and capsules vary greatly in size, our testers who take medications used their personal prescriptions to test capacity, and I used four supplements that I take: large fish oil capsules, large turmeric pills, midsized B vitamins, and small zinc pills.
