Owner Reported Trouble Spots

The Reliability score is based on our latest subscriber survey of 2019 Toyota Avalon Hybrid owners. The owner comments describe problems respondents experienced with this vehicle.

Electrical Accessories

Cruise control, clock, warning lights, body control module, keyless entry, wiper motor or washer, tire pressure monitor, interior or exterior lights, horn, gauges, 12V power plug, USB ports, alarm or security system, remote engine start, heated or cooled seats, heated steering wheel, headlights, automatic headlights, automatic wipers, wireless charging pad.

What Owners Say

12V battery

""I got into my car one morning, and my car would not start. I was told by a Toyota employee that I did not drive at highway speeds enough to keep the 12 volt charged as I should. Six miles a day, generally. Oh well. I had a friend come and start it for me. H said with his experience in vehicle repair that I would need a new battery. So right.""

Anonymous, AR (2019 Toyota Avalon Hybrid Hybrid Limited 2.5-L 4 Cyl hybrid)
Other electrical system problem

"The rear turn signal light was dysfunctional. It was attributed to water shorting out the light. It cost over $400 to fix the problem. That seems excessive to replace a light bulb. There must have been a faulty design in the vehicle for water to get where it shouldn't be. This vehicle had endemic electrical problems when it was first aquired. I should have returned it as a lemon then."

Anonymous A., MN (2019 Toyota Avalon Hybrid Hybrid Limited 2.5-L 4 Cyl hybrid)

Exhaust

Muffler, pipes, catalytic converter, exhaust manifold, heat shields, leaks.

What Owners Say

Catalytic converter

"Car is currently in the service department for repair. Waiting for complete analysis."

Anonymous, IL (2019 Toyota Avalon Hybrid Hybrid Limited 2.5-L 4 Cyl hybrid)

"Check Engine Light came on - caused by a gas cap leaking gas fumes. Replace gas cap."

Anonymous, WA (2019 Toyota Avalon Hybrid Hybrid Limited 2.5-L 4 Cyl hybrid)

In-car Electronics

Infotainment system (audio, GPS, phone), rear entertainment system, backup or other camera/sensors, head-up display.

What Owners Say

Other in-car electronics problem

"My connected services stopped working. This allowed me to open or lock the doors remotely and start the car remotely. I paid for this service and when I took it in for troubleshooting the dealer said it was unrepairable without replacing the head unit. I canceled the paid service and did not do the repair because of cost."

Anonymous, WI (2019 Toyota Avalon Hybrid Hybrid XLE 2.5-L 4 Cyl hybrid)

Windows, locks and latches, doors or sliding doors, tailgate, trunk or hatch, mirrors, seat controls (power or manual), seat belts, sunroof, convertible top, glass defect.
