Body Hardware

Windows, locks and latches, doors or sliding doors, tailgate, trunk or hatch, mirrors, seat controls (power or manual), seat belts, sunroof, convertible top, glass defect.

What Owners Say

Doors or sliding doors

""Falcon wing door sensors were giving false signals, causing doors to open erratically.""

Anonymous, TX (2024 Tesla Model X Long Range Electric)
Tailgate, hatch or trunk

""This was related to the paint issue, which was on the tailgate. So this was not an additional problem.""

Anonymous, TX (2024 Tesla Model X Long Range Electric)

In-car Electronics

Infotainment system (audio, GPS, phone), rear entertainment system, backup or other camera/sensors, head-up display.

What Owners Say

Phone pairing (e.g., Bluetooth)

""Before the January update, my phone and key fob linked up with the Model X with no problem. Since January, I get frequent Phone Key Not Found notices, even when I can link with the vehicle to make and receive phone calls. Sometimes I can use the Key Fob to start the vehicle. Sometimes I have to get the Backup Key Card out of my wallet to start the car. Just two days ago, nothing worked. I thought I was going to have to call Tesla Service, but I reset the vehicle and the phone one more time (I had already done it twice) and the Backup Key Card worked. This problem first occurred after the first week in January update. I bought it in for service. Tesla said it was my phone. If so, why did I not have that problem before January? They sent me home with instructions to reset the phone and reset the vehicle. When that didn't work, I did a hard reset on the vehicle. Did not solve the problem. After another service visit and, basically, being told to buy an iPhonie (I have a Android), I figured out the January update had corrupted my base firmware, which is not impacted by a "hard" reset. The third service visit, I requested a wipe and replace of the base firmware. Tesla said they cannot do that. They told me to unpair Bluetooth in both the vehicle and the phone. I had already tried that, but tried again. Did not fix the problem. On the forth service visit, I again asked for new base firmware. Denied again. On the fifth visit, I told them to fix it or I was filing a Lemon Law action. I did that by Certified Mail, as required by the Tesla warranty. I received an email replay that stated my claim did "not meet the requirements" without saying why. I have an attorney and are pursuing legal options. Latest from Tesla is they need two weeks to "analyze date". Still no reason for the denial. Because Tesla has jerked me around so much, I am requesting a repurchase, which is one of two options allowed under the Nevada Law. The other option is a replacement, which I do not want for obvious reasons. However, Tesla did not offer that option in their replies. Before January, I loved the vehicle and would have given it 10's across the board.""

Paint/Trim

Paint (fading, chalking, peeling, or cracking), loose interior or exterior trim or moldings, rust.

What Owners Say

Paint (fading, chalking, cracking, or peeling)

""The tailgate (specifically the spoiler) had a paint defect in that the paint appeared to be too thin in one area, and so it was lighter in color, with the primer showing through. Tesla attempted to buff it out, which failed. It was then decided to replace the entire tailgate, not just the spoiler.""
