This luxurious EV sedan is quite advanced in terms of range and charging speed. Our tested AWD Touring model, with a prodigious 620 hp, is super-quick, with a seemingly never-ending flow of power that's delivered in a smooth and measured way. The Lucid's 92-kilowatt-hour battery gave it an impressive 344 miles in our 70-mph highway-range test, though our tested 2023 model fell short of its EPA-estimated 384-mile rating. Its maximum acceptance rate at a public DC fast charger is 250 kW. Handling is nimble, and the ride is luxuriously composed except for some low-speed stiffness. The Lucid's interior is noisy, with too much electric motor whine and wind noise on the highway.

Many controls are buried in a low touchscreen, which can cause driver distraction. On the plus side, rear-seat room is generous, and the cabin is decked in leather, suede, and wool.

2021 Model Redesign Year

The luxurious Air electric sedan is the first model to be offered by Silicon Valley-based Lucid Motors. The rollout starts with a pricey, fully loaded Dream Edition. The dual-motor versions have 1,111 and 800 horsepower. The lesser dual-motor versions have 620 hp. The EPA range for the version with the maximum range is over 500 miles. The 900-volt electric system enables rapid charging capable of taking on 300 miles of range in just 20 minutes.

The cabin is distinguished by a massive, curved 34-inch floating display ahead of the driver and a center console screen that can retract. The suite of advanced safety features is augmented by LIDAR, an advanced laser-based radar system. 2024 saw the introduction of the Sapphire trim, focused on performance with over 1,000 horsepower. A surround-view camera is standard for 2025. 2026 Touring models got an increase in range.
