The problem turned out to be low oil level, but the dashboard oil low light never came on. I have now run the car an additional 15,000 miles on the bad engine by adding a quart of oil about every 1,000 miles. Lots cheaper than an engine replacement. The dealership said the engine would be done in 500 miles. Offered me $1000 for the car.""
