The Reliability score is based on our latest subscriber survey of 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 6 owners. The owner comments describe problems respondents experienced with this vehicle.

EV Charging

Won't charge at home; won't work with some public chargers; won't fully charge; charge connection; charge port door.

What Owners Say

Charges too slowly

"They sell you the car with the notion of 350 /15 min charging capability. The fastest Ive achieved is 200 from a 350 charger. They need to show the specs plus average real charging speed."

Anonymous, BC (2023 Hyundai Ioniq 6 SEL Electric)
Other electric/hybrid charging problem

"The ICCU and 12 volt battery were replaced prior to delivery to me but after purchasing the EV. I have had zero problems since with anything with this EV."

Anonymous A., FL (2023 Hyundai Ioniq 6 SEL Electric)

"The ICCU [the unit that controls charging the 12v battery from the big battery] was repaired under a recall notice...and then stopped working within a week. It took three weeks for the new ICCU to come in. Hyundai provided a loaner for this period without charge; and the problem did not seriously incovenience me."

Anonymous A., WA (2023 Hyundai Ioniq 6 SEL Electric)

"Car message told me to stop driving due to electrical problems so I did and it was towed to dealership which replaced ICCU and I was given a rental over two weeks time."

Anonymous A., MA (2023 Hyundai Ioniq 6 Limited Electric)
Won't work with some public chargers

"I experienced since I bought vehicle. Hyundai has not responded well to this, telling me to find another charger, or its the charger. However, the chargers work for other vehicles after me and I know its an issue with the car. Ive explained to them its like telling gas car owner they can only stop at Shell stations which would never be accepted. Since my ICCU failed and was replaced along with 12V battery. It works better at charging stations but I still charge very slow compared to other cars. For this reason I will never buy a Hyundai again."

Body Hardware

Windows, locks and latches, doors or sliding doors, tailgate, trunk or hatch, mirrors, seat controls (power or manual), seat belts, sunroof, convertible top, glass defect.

What Owners Say

Other body problem

""The interior center console had the outer coating "peel" in spots and had to be entirely replaced under warranty, and then the same thing happened to the drivers door.""

Anonymous, CO (2023 Hyundai Ioniq 6 SE Electric)

In-car Electronics

Infotainment system (audio, GPS, phone), rear entertainment system, backup or other camera/sensors, head-up display.

What Owners Say

Voice control commands

""A lot of the technology in the car depends on having cell service in the area. I can understand that for say, asking for information, but you do not need cell service for GPS mapping, nor should you need it to say, turn on seat heating or set temperature to say 70 degrees. Without cel service coverage, ie. you are in the mountains or miles away from the nearest towns, simple things like changing the temperature do not work. In order to be safe, you must stop the car and play with the dash controls manually to change the temperature. Even with cellular coverage and all the problems, like " I do not understand what you are saying, please close the windows." The windows were closed. In the end, I gave up on the so called smart communications in the car and connected Amazon Auto to my cell phone and making phone calls and playing music worked fine. Also Android Auto was supposed to be wireless connection, but even with buying a new phone to work with the car, the dealer could not get it to connect wirelessly. Even his phone did not work.""
