CR's Take
The Civic Si is a sporty coupe based on our top-rated small sedan. It comes with a smooth, powerful 197-hp 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that revs easily and sounds invigorating. The five-speed manual transmission is replaced by a six-speed manual. It has ideally spaced gear ratios and shifts crisply. Handling is fairly nimble with tenacious tire grip. But the electric steering feels a bit vague and short on feedback. Its response is not linear, detracting from the car's agility and sporty character. The ride is stiff and choppy and road noise is pronounced. The Si manages to deliver spirited acceleration as well as commendable fuel economy.
