Owner Reported Trouble Spots

The Reliability score is based on our latest subscriber survey of 2019 Chevrolet Colorado owners. The owner comments describe problems respondents experienced with this vehicle.

In-car Electronics

Infotainment system (audio, GPS, phone), rear entertainment system, backup or other camera/sensors, head-up display.

What Owners Say

Backup or other camera/sensors

"All of the problems are related to the infotainment system and began over 1.5-2 yrs ago. Ghosting problem, intermittent. Images appear & quickly disappear from screen. Repair is extremely expensive. Weve already spent over $4000 to replace the heater blower which required the dash to be removed for the repair. This seemed to accelerate the ghost effect on the screen. Dealer wants more money to fix this problem in addition to heater repair which necessitated removal of entire dash"

Anonymous, CA (2019 Chevrolet Colorado LT 2.8-L 4 Cyl diesel)
Display screen freezes up

"When the touchscreen stopped working the radio stopped working the back up. Camera stopped working anything the display screen did didnt work."

Anonymous, SC (2019 Chevrolet Colorado Z71 3.6-L V6)

"Started at 28000. Dealer couldn't diagnose. Persistent problem."

Anonymous, MA (2019 Chevrolet Colorado WT 3.6-L V6)
Display screen goes blank

"Started at 28000. Occurred once weekly. Occasionally screen goes entirely black. Restarting the engine sometimes "cures" the problem."

Anonymous, MA (2019 Chevrolet Colorado WT 3.6-L V6)

"Infotainment screen wanders, goes blank, ghost effect. Problem is over a year old, no resolution. Constant whenever the truck is in use. Seems to be a GM problem"

Anonymous, CA (2019 Chevrolet Colorado LT 2.8-L 4 Cyl diesel)
Hardware replacement

"Intermittently the touch screen would not work."

Anonymous, SC (2019 Chevrolet Colorado Z71 3.6-L V6)

"HMI module malfunctioned. The malfunction caused the blank radio screen and excessive drain on the battery. Once the HMI module was replaced and new battery installed. I have experienced any other issues."

Anonymous, FL (2019 Chevrolet Colorado LT 3.6-L V6)
Radio

"Radio stations keep cycling when weather is warm outside"

Anonymous, FL (2019 Chevrolet Colorado Z71 3.6-L V6)

What Owners Say

Rough shifting

"Upshifting and downshifting, downshifting happens who accelerating from rolling stop"

Anonymous, (2019 Chevrolet Colorado Z71 3.6-L V6)

"The transmission shifts very hard after a rolling stop and resume. Sometimes it downshifts while stopped at a redlight and feels like someone bumped into me but no one is there. After spending nearly $1000 to have the transmission slippage fixed, I decided to adjust my driving to minimize the hard shifting."

Anonymous A., MD (2019 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 3.6-L V6)
Slipping transmission

"Doesnt downshift properly,slips going uphill"

Anonymous, (2019 Chevrolet Colorado Z71 3.6-L V6)

"Chevrolet put the wrong type of transmission fluid in the truck at the factory. My problem surfaced after the warranty so it wasn't covered. It cost nearly $1000 to have the transmission flushed and filled with the correct fluid. This did fix the transmission slippage but did not fix the hard shifting or lurching after stop."

Anonymous A., MD (2019 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 3.6-L V6)

Engine Cooling
