CR's Take
The Blazer and similar discontinued GMC Jimmy trail most competitors. Both are plagued by poor emergency handling, a so-so ride, and poor fit and finish. The V6 feels lively, but fuel economy is poor. Front seats are fairly comfortable, but the rear seats aren't. Four-wheel-drive options include a part-time system and a selectable full-time system that works as needed. The Blazer received a "Poor" rating in an insurance-industry offset crash test. A major redesign is renamed the TrailBlazer. The Blazer became an inexpensive entry targeted mostly at fleets.
