Owner Reported Trouble Spots

The Reliability score is based on our latest subscriber survey of 2025 BMW iX owners. The owner comments describe problems respondents experienced with this vehicle.

In-car Electronics

Infotainment system (audio, GPS, phone), rear entertainment system, backup or other camera/sensors, head-up display.

What Owners Say

Apple CarPlay

"Disconnects spontaneouslyy"

Anonymous, TX (2025 BMW iX xDrive50i Electric)
Phone pairing (e.g., Bluetooth)

"I was stranded twice when the car lost the link between my BMW ID and the BMW distal key on my iPhone. The car refused to start. Online forums confirm this bug is widespread and has persisted for YEARS. BMW refuses to acknowledge the bug."

Climate System

AC compressor, blower (fan) motor, condenser, evaporator, heater system, automatic climate system, electrical failure, refrigerant leakage.

What Owners Say

Other climate system problem

""Since an operating system update (iDrive) issued in late September 2024, the Climate System sync function no longer remains engaged. It was designed to be set it and forget it, allowing the driver to leave it on, knowing all four positions in the vehicle were receiving the same target temperature and fan force. Now, the sync function continuously disables itself. Its my understanding this bug affects all iX vehicles up through the 2025 model year. My service department has informed me BMW is aware of the glitch they created, but as of this survey, does not have a fix.""

EV Charging

Won't charge at home; won't work with some public chargers; won't fully charge; charge connection; charge port door.

What Owners Say

Charges too slowly

""Tesla superchargers just work. BMW routed me last weekend to 3 superchargers. One was in a Hyundai dealer and private and the other 2 were out of service. Had to go to a slow charger to avoid running out of charge. Both times I needed to charge on the road this has been an issue and BMW service is no help - they routed me to a gas station without charging. When we purchased the car, we were told we could use Tesla Superchargers. I am not a Tesla fan, but after having a Model S for 8 years and driving throughout the US and Canada, I would never buy a car that does not support Tesla Supercharging moving forward. Even when DC chargers are available, I need to wait as their are 1 to 4 vs Tesla where many more stations are available with up to 20 chargers per station. The BMW software and their charging partners need to also be able to not route me to chargers that are broken as that just wastes more charge and then it is not easy to route to another charger. The charger I finally found last weekend only charged at 1KW/hr - leaving me to use an Uber to go home and pick up my car much later.""
