CR's Take
The eye-catching TT started as a coupe with a tiny rear seat; a roadster (two-seat convertible) version joined the lineup for 2001. Based on the Volkswagen Jetta/Golf/New Beetle platform, the TT is a nimble, well-crafted sporty runabout. Electronic stability control is standard on all models. A gutsy, though a bit noisy, 180-hp turbocharged Four is standard with front-wheel-drive editions, while a 225-hp version powers all-wheel-drive models. The artfully designed interior is finished with aluminum, stainless steel, and leather.
