If you want a cleaner home, a good vacuum is the key to achieving your goals—and you don’t have to break the bank to get one that excels. With Presidents Day just two weeks away, there are plenty of offers on many types of vacuums, whether you prefer canistershandhelds, sticksrobots, or uprights. You can even find deals on other floor-care products, including combo vac-mops, carpet cleaners, and steam mops.

When highlighting vacuum sales, we consider factors that include the model’s performance in our tests, its brand’s predicted reliability and owner satisfaction, the features it offers, and the size of the discount vs. the typical cost of the product. If you’re not sure which vacuum is right for you, check out our vacuum buying guide or our full vacuum ratings, which show you how more than 200 models performed in our tests.

    Cordless Stick Vacuums

This Samsung Bespoke AI Jet Ultra cordless stick vacuum is pricey, but its powerful performance makes it a real standout. We found it to be stellar at cleaning bare floors and pet hair. It’s also very good at cleaning carpets, which isn’t always the case for stick vacuums. And if you want a vacuum that’s unlikely to die on you in the middle of your cleaning session, this vacuum has one of the longest average run times among the cordless stick vacs we tested.

The vacuum can automatically empty its dustbin into an enclosed bag, and its multipurpose tower also serves as a recharging station. The AI-powered functionality can detect floor types and automatically adjust suction power and brush speed. As a bonus, Samsung cordless stick vacuums earn very good scores for both reliability and owner satisfaction, according to our member surveys.

We like the Shark Vertex Pro IZ662H’s many features. The wand can be bent to reach underneath furniture better, and the vacuum itself folds to allow for more compact storage. While it’s only decent at cleaning carpets, the vacuum shines in cleaning up pet hair and bare, uncarpeted floors. The price for this vacuum fluctuates, but this is the lowest we’ve seen in months.

    Robotic Vacuums

The Eufy C10 T2292 is a great choice if you don’t have too many carpeted areas in your home. While it’s only middling at cleaning dust and debris from carpets, it’s excellent at cleaning bare laminate floors in our lab tests. The vacuum is also impressive at cleaning up pet hair, making it ideal for pet owners.

If you dislike robovacs that are too noisy, the Eufy RoboVac 11S Max is the choice for you. It’s unobtrusively quiet, and it gets high scores for how well it can navigate through your home and avoid obstacles. While it’s only so-so at cleaning carpets, it’s impressive at picking up debris from bare floors. We like that its profile is slim, so that it can get underneath low furniture without getting stuck. It’s currently $20 more than it has been, so it may be worth waiting and watching for that extra discount, which tends to come and go fairly often.

The Dyson 360 vis nav is still available for the low price we saw over the holidays, and Amazon no longer lists it as a sale, so this price may stick around for a while. It stands out for its unique features and powerful cleaning performance despite some limitations and its high price. It’s on the heavy side but compensates with extremely strong suction, effectively picking up pet hair and embedded dirt. Instead of a conventional side brush, it uses an extending side duct to tackle edges and corners. It also has a large brush roll that spans the full size of the vacuum for effective cleaning, and though its dustbin is relatively small, it’s equipped with a convenient one-touch ejection system for easy emptying.

The iRobot Roomba Max 705 might be slightly more expensive than some other robots, but it’s the highest-performing one we’ve tested, which may be a reason to lay out the cash. It’s back down to the same low price we saw during the holidays, making this an exceptional time to hit that Buy button. It’s quiet and does well in every cleaning test we’ve thrown at it. It’s also outstanding at vacuuming up pet hair and is no slouch at cleaning carpets either, with a feature that increases suction power when it detects carpet. This vacuum is also better than many other robotic vacuums at navigating spaces and avoiding obstacles.

    Upright Vacuums

True to its name, the Kenmore Elite Pet Friendly 31150 is very good at vacuuming up pet hair. It nailed our bare-floor cleaning tests and is impressive at cleaning carpets as well. If you’re looking for a vacuum with strong suction, this model has the most powerful hose suction among the uprights we’ve tested. But it’s not exactly lightweight—it weighs 21 pounds—and some of our members have complained about the hose being too short. It’s worth noting, however, that we found this model’s hose length to be roughly average for its category.

The Shark Detect Lift-Away LA 492 is a feature-rich model that excels in both performance and innovation. It includes multiple smart detection features, such as direction detect, which senses whether you’re pushing or pulling and adjusts suction accordingly. It also detects floor type and automatically modifies the brush roll speed for optimal cleaning. It’s excellent at suctioning up pet hair and debris from bare floors and very good at cleaning carpet, though its hose suction isn’t top-notch. Like other Lift-Away models, this vacuum has a detachable pod that’s easy to release and can be used when you’re vacuuming your stairs or furniture.

The budget-friendly Kenmore Pet-Friendly Cross-Over DU3017 is a solid performer all-around, and this is the usual sale price, even if it’s a little modest. It’s stellar at cleaning up pet hair and bare floors and does a fine job of suctioning debris from carpets. The vacuum did well in our clean emissions tests, meaning it captures the dust it picks up, which is important if you have allergies or other respiratory problems. One drawback is that its shorter-than-normal cord might have you mapping your electrical outlets when you’re vacuuming.

If you don’t have a lot of carpets at home, it’s worth considering the Shark Rotator Powered Lift-Away NV752, which is excellent at cleaning bare surfaces. It’s one of the quieter upright vacuums we tested, and it also scores well for picking up pet hair. The vacuum comes with LED headlights, which can spotlight any debris on the floor while you’re cleaning. The original price was $350 recently, so the discount isn’t quite as impressive as it looks, but it’s still a good deal.

    Combo Vacuum-Mops

Currently the highest-rated combo vacuum-mop in our ratings, the Hoover ONEPWR Streamline Cordless Hard Floor Wet Dry Vacuum is superb at cleaning up wet and dry messes. It does a satisfying job of cleaning up dried stains, though its run time isn’t super long. The vacuum-mop has a self-cleaning feature and an indicator that shows how much battery life is left.

In our tests, the Tineco Floor One S3 Smart Wet Dry Vacuum Cleaner Mop picked up dry debris, including rice, cereal, and sand, with ease. It’s also very good at cleaning wet spills and removing stains. Another plus: it boasts one of the longest run times among the models we tested, averaging 36 minutes. That and a decent discount add up to a good deal, especially because the price is $40 less than it was in January.

The Shark HydroVac Pro XL Cordless Mop jumps between this discount and full price fairly quickly, so you may want to act fast before it’s back up to $300 again. It scored very well in all of our cleaning tests, though our evaluators pointed out it’s not the easiest to clean after you use it. Its battery life is on the shorter side, with an average of 22 minutes, but it’s fairly lightweight, at just 9 pounds.

    Robotic Vacuum-Mop Combos

If you don’t have a lot of carpets in your home, the Dreame L40 Ultra is a great choice. While it’s only decent at vacuuming carpets, it shines at clearing debris off bare floors and picking up pet hair. It’s also very good at mopping dried-up stains. The Dreame L40 Ultra’s base automatically empties dirt and debris, washes and dries the model’s mop pads, and refills the device with water and solution.

    Canister Vacuums

One of our highest-rated canister vacuums, the Miele Complete C3 Marin earns impressive marks in almost every test we throw its way. It’s a champ at cleaning bare floors and picking up embedded pet hair, and its emissions are free of debris, earning the highest score possible in that assessment. Its carpet cleaning capabilities are only so-so, though. It’s the most expensive canister in this group (costing two to three times as much as its competitors), but its consistently strong performance has made it one of our top canisters for several years running. And if you’re looking for a vacuum that likely won’t break down even after years of usage, Miele canisters have top-notch scores in predicted reliability and owner satisfaction, based on our member surveys.

While the Kenmore Elite Pet Friendly CrossOver 21814 might be on the heavier side at 26 pounds, it makes up for it with its strong performance. Compared to other vacuums we test, it’s especially good at cleaning carpets and bare floors. Its suction power also earned an excellent score, the highest in its category.

This Kenmore 200 Series 81214 performs quite well in CR cleaning tests, with a strong score for cleaning carpets and suction power, while its ability to clean bare floss and pet hair is stellar. Negatives? Handling is average and it’s one of the noisier canisters. Differences from the 400 Series: the on/off switch is on the body, it has a different type of suction control, and there’s no telescopic wand.

    Steam Mops

The GorFanty 10-in-1 MultiPurpose, which typically retails for $100, is an excellent cleaner with a decent steam rate. It takes only 20 seconds for the steam mop to produce steam, and its steam can last for around 10 minutes on its maximum setting. We like that you can adjust the length of the mop to accommodate people of different heights. The mop comes with plenty of accessories, including attachments for cleaning tile grout, clothes, furniture, windows, and carpets.

    Carpet Cleaners

The Dirt Devil Compact Portable Spot Cleaner is a light little carpet cleaner at just 9 pounds with a full tank of solution. While the portable cleaners in our tests don’t measure up to full-sized machines in terms of their cleaning abilities, this model did well, especially when it comes to drying. It’s also one of the quieter models we tested. The tank isn’t huge (partly why the cleaner is so light), but if you’re just using it for spills and spot-cleaning, this model will do the trick.

This price on the Shark CarpetXpert EX201 is the lowest it gets, so it’s a deal worth seizing now. In our tests, this cleaner does a solid job cleaning stains from carpets and doesn’t leave much detergent residue behind. It’s convenient to use and comes with a hose, a crevice attachment, and a pet mess tool.
